12 calves stolen in rural CaledoniaPosted: 12/16/03 By Shannon McKinney The Houston County Sheriffís office is investigating the theft of a dozen Holstein heifer calves that were stolen Monday night, December 8. Houston County Chief Deputy Ken Frank said on December 15. ìWeíve interviewed several suspects on it.î The calves were taken from three different farms located near each other on Gap Drive in Caledonia Township and Dairy Road in Spring Grove Township. The calves were in hutches located close to the road. Each calf is valued at between $150- $200. Frank said this type of crime is new to Houston County. ìItís the first ones weíve had reported. Weíve seen it in other counties.î Several accidents reported Several one-vehicle accidents occurred last week, but no major injuries were reported. Tracy L. Lapointe, 30, of Houston rolled her vehicle on Co. Rd. 18 near Brownsville on Saturday, December 14. Kelly L. Sutton, 34, of La Crosse had an accident on Schauble Hill at Friday, December 12, at 10:27 p.m. The Minnesota State Patrol described it as a minor injury accident. Cy T. Kasten, 34, of Houston put his vehicle in the ditch on Cut Across Road on Thursday, December 11 at 1:41 a.m. George B. Pohlman, 17, of Caledonia rolled his vehicle on Co. Rd. 5 on Wednesday, December 10 at 4:41 p.m. Jochebed E. Jones, 23, slid her vehicle into the ditch on December 10 on Jefferson Road at 4:54 p.m. Ronald A. Lund, 41, of Caledonia hit a deer on Hwy. 76 in Winona County on December 10 at 11:30 p.m. High speed chase reported Houston County Deputy Luke Sass attempted to stop a white Caprice Classic or Crown Victoria on Saturday, December 13 at 2:26 p.m. The vehicle was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. It sped out of visual contact on State Hwy. 44 in the Spring Grove area. The state patrol and Fillmore County were called to assist. Burglary reported A Houston resident reported that sometime during the evening of Monday, December 8, someone took her .357 Smith and Wesson gun from her house located on Mound Prairie Drive.
