Gladys B. Bernsdorf, 92, of Houston, MN, and formerly of Hokah, died on Sunday, February 9, 2003 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. She was born on July 21, 1910 in La Crosse, WI, to Henry and Ida (Mann) Doering. She married Oscar Bernsdorf on September 30, 1941 in Caledonia, MN. He died on October 20, 1967. Gladys was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hokah and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She is survived by step daughter-in-law, Bernice Bernsdorf, Hokah; four step-grandchildren, Roger (Marilyn) Bernsdorf, Hokah, Elaine (James ) Howarth, La Crescent, and Gary and Ronald Bernsdorf, both of Hokah; eight step great-grandchildren and eight step great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-son, Wilbur Bernsdorf; six sisters, Clara Schauble, Vera Bernsdorf, Ida Doering, Esther Freitag, Eleanor Doering and Helen Schroeder, and a brother, Henry Doering. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hokah. Pastor Daniel Borgwardt will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hokah. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
