Donald Edward (Doc) Holm, 74, of Spring Grove, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at his home. He was born April 26, 1928, in rural Spring Grove, to Albert and Bertha (Ostern) Holm, and was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident. He was a 1945 Spring Grove High School graduate, and a graduate of Winona Technical College. He served in the United States Air Force from January 16, 1947, through September 28, 1949, and was stationed in Panama. On July 27, 1952, he married Helen Muller in Spring Grove, she preceded him in death on December 13, 1999. He was a retired rural mail carrier for Spring Grove, was an excellent card player, loved to golf and fish, but above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and caregiver. Survivors include: one son, John (Melinda) Holm of Lenexa, KS; one daughter, Carol (Noel) Jordan of La Crosse, WI; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Laurence Holm of Spring Grove; four sisters; Palma Hoff, Elvina Bratland and Dorothy Rosaaen all of Spring Grove, and Lillian (Ralph) Fitting of Houston; one brother-in-law, Thomas Moen of Spring Grove; a mother-in-law, Cora Muller of Spring Grove, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, a step-grandson, Chris Jordan, a sister, Francis (Mrs. Thomas) Moen, a sister-in-law, Audrey Holm, and four brothers-in-law, Charles Muller, Morris Hoff, Bill Rosaaen, and Glenn Bratland, and a father-in-law, Gustav Muller. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate.
