Posted: 2/25/03 Mildred WagnerMildred E. Wagner, 84, of Caledonia, died Thursday, February 20, 2003, at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. She was born September 2, 1918, in Caledonia, to Johan Wilhelm and Anna (Kohlmeyer) Meyer. On November 22, 1943, Mildred married Lawrence H. Wagner in Caledonia. Lawrence and Mildred farmed two miles west of Caledonia until 1975 when they retired from farming. She also worked as a cook at the Redwood Cafe and then the Waters Hotel, both in Caledonia. On August 3, 1977, Lawrence preceded Mildred in death. Mildred was an active member of St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. She also was a founding member of the Caledonia Bluebirds 4-H Club. Mildred loved being a homemaker, taking care of her garden, baking, traveling and playing cards. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Mark) Johnson, Richfield, and Dianne (Blaine) Schuldt, Caledonia; two sons, Thomas (Linda) Wagner, Stillwater, and Larry (Kay) Wagner, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Helen) Wagner, Necedah, WI; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by a sister, Malinda Meyer and a brother, Wilhelm Meyer, Jr. Services were held Monday, February 24, at 11 a.m. from St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia with Rev. Tom Schultz officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends called at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
