Peacemakers plan March 1 protest

Posted: 2/25/03

The newly-formed group Rural Peacemakers will hold a walk/protest in Caledonia on Saturday, March 1 in opposition to the possibility of military action in Iraq. The walk will begin at the elementary school at 2 p.m.

Rural Peacemakers was organized January 18 and supports a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Iraq. Organizers say that the voices of rural Minnesotans need to be heard. It meets on Saturdays at various communities in the area.

The group will also meet on Saturday in Canton at 11:30 a.m. at the Country Grapevine, and at the Mabel City Hall at 12:15 p.m.

Anyone interested in an alternative to war is invited to join the protest. Dress warm and bring a sign.
