Helen J. (Burg) Schulte, 44, of Caledonia, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 1, 1958 in Caledonia to Everest and Mary (Gavin) Burg. She married Paul F. Schulte on September 27, 1996, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Helen is survived by her husband Paul and their one son, Gavin of Caledonia; her mother, Mary (Gavin) Burg of Caledonia; six sisters: Rita (Ron) Cuhel, La Crescent, Maureen (Ardell) Lien and Anne (Robert) Augedahl, both of Caledonia, Linda (Thomas) Wenzel, Winona, Patricia (Bruce) Arnold, Prairie Du Chien, WI, and Marion Bland, Rochester; three brothers: John (Elaine), Michael (Margaret), both of Caledonia, and Nicholas (Peggy), Hokah; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Jean. Helen graduated from Winona State College with a degree in Social Work and she worked at Blue Earth Nursing Home until her illness. She was a member of St. Maryís Parish and its Council of Catholic Women in Caledonia. Helen was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She loved sewing, needle point, crafts and shopping with her sisters. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Monday, March 3, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Donald J. Schmitz will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Sunday, March 2, at Holy Family Hall, behind St. Maryís Church, 513 South Pine Street, Caledonia, where a prayer service will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 10 to 10:30 am Monday at the church prior to the service.
