Car crash claims the lives of Steve Bulman, Travis Bulman of Spring Grove; and William (Billy) Bubbers of Caledonia. Sarah Schieber travels to Jamaica to volunteer dental care. Brownsville man, Ronald Danielson, 56, faces felony charges following a stand-off with police officers on June 8 which resulted in his being shot by an officer. Jessica Voight chosen Miss Caledonia Founders Days; Angie Christensen, Second Princess; Jamie Schleich, First Princess. Jayde Schoh chosen Little Miss for Founders Days; First Princess is Mackenzie Moen and Second Princess Brianna Massman. Caledonia/Spring Grove girlsí golf team takes fourth place at state. Area residents report more black bear sightings near Caledonia. Deaths: James Meeks, 58, Houston; Otto Von Arx, 91, Houston; Mary Jane Palen, 69, Scottsdale, AZ; Steven Bulman, 51, and his son, Travis Bulman, 13, both of Spring Grove; William Bubbers, 20, Caledonia; Don Anderson, 68, formerly of Caledonia.
Week of June 19-School district moves to acquire Esch Drive. Houston County ADA holds Breakfast on the Farm at the Mike Ingvalson farm. Houston County extension educator Naomi Fruechte retires after almost 30 years of service. County will hire 4-H coordinator. Deaths: Alfred Otterness, 76, Spring Grove; Olga Vonderohe, 86, formerly of New Albin; Lorraine Fink, 78, New Albin; Lillian Ingvalson, 75, Spring Grove; Hilda Cordes, 94, formerly of Eitzen.

Week of June 26-City agrees to join school board in eminent domain pursuit. Steve Rukavina retires after 38 years of teaching, 26 of those years at the Caledonia school district. Legion baseball returns to Caledonia. Team Miken wins Founders Day softball tourney. Paul Weichert hits hole-in-one at Ma Cal Grove Country Club. Deaths: Wallace Hahn, 78, Houston.
Week of July 3-Community First Bank announced late last week that it will close its Hokah branch in September. Dr. James Tool has been hired as District #299ís new interim superintendent. Ashley Kruckow and Travis Klinski, 8th graders, received the St. Johnís Lutheran School Presidentís Education Award. Deaths: Mabel Holten, 83, Spring Grove.
