Jerome ìJerryî Burke 45 of New Albin, IA, died Monday February 3, 2003 at Gundersen- Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, at St. Josephís Church with burial in the church cemetery both in New Albin.

Jerry was born on February 21, 1957 to Raymond and Elizabeth (Mauss) Burke in La Crosse. He graduated from Kee High in 1975. He was employed as a deck hand in Lansing, IA, for the J.F. Brennan Marine Co. of La Crosse. He also worked for Wiebke Fur of Eitzen. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting of all kinds. He was a dedicated Morel mushroom hunter, a trapper, fan of the Green Bay Packers and playing euchre. He also collected Indian artifacts. He loved to sit and visit, dance and listen to music. Most of all he loved being with his children.

He is survived by two children: Clayton and Briana Burke of Lansing; his father Ray Burke of New Albin; seven siblings: Joe Burke, Waukon, IA, Janice (Rick) Monson, Highlandville, IA, John Burke, Decorah, IA, Bernard (his fiancÈ, Andrea Smerud), Hortonville, WI, Jeff (Mary) Burke, Decorah, Jay (his special friend Karon Rynerson) Burke, Albert Lea, Justin Burke, Sutherland, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Burke on May 10, 2000, three nephews: Ryan Monson, Jackson and Jeremiah Burke and his grandparents.

The Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home of Lansing is assisting the family.
