Galen J. Leitzen

Galen J. Leitzen, 82, of Houston, MN, died Monday, January 6, 2002, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Galen was born on May 8, 1920, in Nora Township of Jo Daviess County, IL, to Matthew and Nellie (Rhodes) Leitzen. He was raised in Illinois. He married Wynetta Calhoun in 1940. They were later divorced. He moved to Houston in 1968, the same year that he married Lois Dascher. Lois died in 1974.

Galen was a lifelong farmer in both Illinois and the Houston area.

He is survived by three sons: Ron (Linda) Leitzen of Johnston City, IL, Ray (Alice) Leitzen of Houston, and Wayne Leitzen of Epworth, IA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Leitzen and one sister Helen (Harlan) Fritz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Melvin.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton, IL. Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
