Country Therapeutic Massage offers pain relief, total relaxation

With a little help from Country Therapeutic Massage, you can give sore backs and tight muscles their walking papersñrunning water, an Oriental screen, and soft, ambient music create a soothing atmosphere in which massage technician Karen Snodgrass eases you into total relaxation.

ìItís a stressful world we live in, and thereís so many people with tight muscles,î Snodgrass said. ìOnce youíve had one massage here, youíll definitely be hooked.î

Located in the basement of Snodgrassí home on Dogwood Drive off County Road 3, Country Therapeutic Massage offers Swedish massage, seated chair massage, and reflexology, which alleviates pain in hands and feet.

Since its inception in mid-December, it has been drastically reducing Houston Countyís collective stress level. Management at Little Miami restaurant and tavern in Freeburg hired Snodgrass to massage their staff at the businessí holiday party, and each employee who partook of the massage therapy went home with a gleam in his eye, a bounce in his step, and a posture about as far removed from Scoliosis as humanly possible.

ìKaren was great,î said Little Miami manager Tim Pattrin. ìPeople were a little leery at first, but everybody ended up getting massaged, and people absolutely loved it.î

Pattrin was so taken with Snodgrassí massage therapy that he and his wife have begun frequenting Country Massage.

ìMy wife and I stand on our feet a lot,î he said. ìWe give ourselves a special treat by having Karen massage our legs and feet. We leave her office feeling great.î

Snodgrass works as a nurse in Caledonia, and her medical training has been helpful in fostering a holistic approach to massage therapy, in which a clientís breathing and mindset are of paramount importance in creating a mood that is conducive to relaxation.

ìFrom being a nurse, Iíve kind of learned that people need to learn how to relax more,î Snodgrass said. ìMassage therapy is a super way to do itñ itís so therapeutic.î

Her husband Robert, whom she considers her best customer, added, ìAnd besides that, it feels damn good.î
