Randy Scott Skadsem, 42, died suddenly at his home in Mabel, January 17, 2003. Randy was born in Spring Grove, March 17, 1960. He and his family lived in Waterloo, IA until 1965 when they moved to Black Hammer. He grew up in Black Hammer and went to school in Houston. Randy enjoyed animals, expecially horses and dogs. He liked working outside. Randy took pride in building fences all over the area with his dad and sister. He helped different neighbors with their chores and fieldwork. Randy cared about his family and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his mother Mavis (Benson) Skadsem, paternal grandparents Melvin and Elida (Olafson) Skadsem, maternal grandparents Gynther and Muriel (Englehart) Benson and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He is survived by his father Willis Skadsem, Black Hammer; one brother, Larry Skadsem, Spring Grove; three sisters, Cindy Folstad, Black Hammer; Dee Ann and Joyce Skadsem, Mabel; a nephew, nieces and aunts. Services will be at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer at 1 p.m. on January 24. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
