Muriel Bissen

Muriel M. Bissen, 74, of Brownsville, MN, died on Sunday, December 29, 2002, in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born on February 8, 1928, in La Crosse. She married James ěCalî Bissen on October 8, 1953 in La Crescent. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1975. Muriel had worked at La Crosse Footwear for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Church, Brownsville.

She is survived by two daughters, Carmen (Michael) Moriarty, Brownsville, and Mary Ann Bissen, Brownsville; one son, Jim (Mary) Bissen, Eden Prairie; five grandchildren; one brother, Leo Baier, Peoria, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother and a grandson, John Michael.

Services were held on Saturday, January 4, 10 a.m., at Zion Evangelical Church with burial in the Veteranís Cemetery, Brownsville. Friends called at Zion Evangelical Church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent was in charge of arrangements.
