Youth cited for consumption after hitting utility pole

An 18-year old Caledonia male was issued a citation after crashing into a utility pole on South Winnebago Street the morning of July 12.

The 1998 Ford Tempo involved in the crash was totaled, and two telephone boxes at the base of the pole sustained damage.

A witness contacted the Houston County Sheriffís Office after the accident, reporting that the driver had attempted to remove the license plate from the vehicle, and had begun walking north on Winnebago Street.

The driver was located by authorities shortly after the witnessí report. An Intoxylizer test revealed a blood-alcohol concentration of .09, and the driver was cited for underage drinking and driving.
