Farm Bureau, Fair board forge beneficial partnership

Posted: 7/29/03

The Houston County Fair board has a new, year-round home, thanks to Caledoniaís new Farm Bureau agent, John Kelsey.

Kelsey recently opened an office at 103 North Ramsey, in the upper level of the Ace Communications building. The office space was most recently used as the district office for the school district. With extra space available, Kelsey offered a permanent office to the Fair Board, which was gratefully accepted. Kelsey said he is pleased to support the work of the fair board by donating the office space, and understands the importance of the county fair to people in the area.

Fair time will find Kelsey supporting the fair in another way. Farm Bureau is sponsoring a contest in which the grand prize is a pick-up truck. For $2 a chance, or 3 for $5, contestants will make paper airplanes and try to get the airplanes into the bed of the pick-up. Five airplanes will be drawn and the people who made them will be finalists for the pick up. Between heats at Sundayís demolition derby, the five finalists will be given the chance to fly an airplane into the window of the pick up. If anyone makes it, they win the pick-up or $25,000 cash.

The public will have the opportunity to visit the new fair office and Farm Bureau Agency this Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kelsey, who makes his home in Money Creek, said he is very impressed with the area and is looking forward to meeting more residents of the area this Friday and Saturday.
