Suspects sought in burglary spree

A robbery spree early Monday morning in La Crescent has police hunting down a suspect.

Sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. on June 16, a 1999 Dodge Caravan was stolen from Dr. Jís Auto at 103 Twilite Street. The van is described as dark blue/purplish in color, with clear windows and black cardboard plates on the front and back advertising ìDr. Jísî in white lettering.

Moments after the van was stolen, the Saver Stop at 100 Twilite Street was burglarized. After the back door had been smashed in, the storeís safe was taken. The whereabouts of the suspect, safe and van were unknown to authorities as of press time Monday evening.

La Crescent Police are heading the investigation, with assistance from the Houston County Sheriffís Office. Anyone with information relating to the robberies is urged to contact the Houston County Crimestoppers hotline at 507-725-5122.

Charges pending for car vandals

Reports of vandalism in the past week have Caledonia Police rounding up juvenile suspects.

A Chevy Blazer and a camper had a total of six windows broken out sometime between June 5 and June 7 along Ramsey Lane. Four juvenile suspects have been named by police, and charges are pending.

A vehicle belonging to a resident of the Gjere Avenue apartments was vandalized on June 10. The car had been keyed, and words had been inscribed in the passenger side door. Police have placed the matter under investigation; no further information was available.
