Harold Anderson

Harold Edward Anderson, beloved father and husband, 79, of Hemet, CA, and Spring Grove, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, from injuries sustained due to an out of control vehicle.

He was born June 5, 1924, in Monango, ND, to Louis T. and Emma (Skare) Anderson. He had lived in Wyndemere, ND, and also in Wahpeton, ND. He attended Indiana University and graduated from North Dakota State School of Science.

He entered the Army on August 6, 1943, and was with the 20th armored division in Central Europe, he received the Overseas Service Bar, the American Campaign medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with One Bronze Battle Star, he also received the Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal, he was among the American soldiers, who liberated Dachau Concentration Camp on April 29, 1945, he was honorably discharged on February 13, 1946.

He met Lois J. Brown at the Florence Hotel, which was owned and operated by her parents Arthur C. and Palma Brown. They were married April 5, 1953. The couple had resided in Hemet, CA, since 1953, and recently had spent part of each year in Spring Grove.

Harold worked for Woodrich Construction, he was involved with transporting large construction equipment, he built the Dubuque, IA, airport runway, he worked for Nutrilite Products, now known as Amway, he was a General Contractor for the State of California, he retired in 1994.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hemet, CA, and a member of the Spring Grove American Legion Post 249, in Spring Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Hemet, CA; one daughter, Kimberly L. Anderson, also of Hemet; three brothers, Orrin Anderson, Ray Anderson and Dudley Anderson; one sister, Sylvia Forbes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Gulke.

Services were held Thursday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial was at the church cemetery. Pastor Robert Stoskopf officiated. Roble Funeral Service of Spring Grove was in charge of arrangements.
