Caledonia Police investigates thefts

Posted: 6/24/03

A string of thefts which police believe to be unrelated has kept officers busy this past week.

A purse left unwatched for just a few minutes was taken from a garage along Vista Drive on June 22. The purse had been placed on a car trunk while the purseís owner assisted someone into the home. The garage door had been left open, and when the women returned to the garage, the purse was no longer there. Caledonia Police placed the matter under investigation, and have named two suspects in the case.

A bike was reported stolen from a residence along East Grove Street sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday night and 2 a.m. Sunday morning. A 20" Huffy, the bike is purple, with the words ìGotta Goî embossed on the handle bars.

Caledonia Police are hot on the trail of a skateboard thief. The evening of June 22, it was reported that a juvenile male walked into a garage along North Sprague Street and took a skateboard. A resident of the property witnessed the incident and gave chase on foot, but lost the suspect near the vicinity of Caledonia Haulers.

A description of the alleged thief by a witness narrowed the list of suspects, and police expect to have pinpointed the perpetrator in the coming week.

The skateboard is described as orange/reddish in color and is a ìBlindî-brand board.
