Verna Larson

Verna L. Larson, 82, of Houston, MN, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Valley View Nursing Home. She was born May 5, 1920 in Money Creek, MN to Edward and Emma (Buchholz) McElmury. Verna and Cy were married in 1943 in Milwaukee, WI. They have lived in Houston since 1950. She was actively involved all of her life in the Money Creek United Methodist Church and served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was active with the United Methodist Women. She worked for many years at Skiftonís Department Store in Houston.

She is survived by her husband of Houston; daughters Barbara (David Guimond), Bloomington, Elizabeth (Dennis) Tracy, Venice, FL; and daughters of her heart, Phyllis Egland, Rochester, and Lois (Ivan) McElhiney, La Crescent; three grandchildren; two brothers, Harry of Lakeville and Lester of Lewiston.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James and Alfred McElmury and three sisters, Dorothy McElmury, Hazel (Art) Ladewig and Florence (Harold) Evans.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15 at the Money Creek United Methodist Church with a private burial service at a later date at the Choice Cemetery, Choice. Arrangements made by the Minnesota Cremation Society.

Memorials to the Money Creek United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers are preferred.
