Speaker to present ìBulldust in My BraîPosted: 3/11/03 An evening of humorous anecdotes and tales of triumph and grueling work awaits guests at the Houston County Cattlemenís banquet March 22. Special guest for the evening is Rebecca Long Chaney, author of ìBulldust in My Bra,î the story of Chaney, an agricultural journalist, who spent a year with her husband Lee working in the Australian outback. The Chaneys worked as hired hands on a cattle ranch at Ashburton in western Australia. They lived in primitive conditions and worked long hours. The highlight of their stay was gathering and processing the thousands of cattle that ran wild over Ashburtonís tens of thousands of acres. The running cattle turned the dry ground into a fine ìbulldustî which settled everywhereóhence the title of the book. Tickets for the banquet are $15 each and are available at the Houston County Extension office (725-5807) and from members of the Houston County Cattlemenís Association. Social hour is at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Four Seasons Community Center. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
