Tire slashings keep officers busy

Several incidents of car tire slashings were reported to Caledonia Police the morning of March 23. All of the slashings occurred along East Grove Street, and the incidents are believed to have occurred sometime the evening of March 22.

Clark Meyer of 618 East Grove reported that the front driverís side tire of his 1995 Dodge pickup had been slashed, and Ronald Tornstrom of 713 East Grove had both of the driverís side tires of his 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass slashed.

The rear driverís side tire of Francis Manhartís 1990 Dodge Caravan parked outside 820 East Grove Street had been cut, and Carol Lee of 1019 East Grove had the front passenger side tire of her 1995 Chevrolet Corsica slashed.

Michael Renk of 927 East Grove had the rear driverís side tire of his 1990 Ford Ranger slashed, and both driverís side tires of a Kraus Oil company truck, parked at 917 East Grove Street and in the possession of Leon Myhre, had been lacerated.

Stanley Diersenís 1993 Chevrolet Lumina, as well as a 2001 pickup belonging to Mathy Construction out of Onalaska, both parked outside 908 East Grove, also had tires slashed.

Caledonia Police were notified on March 23 by Mark Peter of 1013 East Grove that, when he arrived home just before 10 p.m. the night of March 22, he saw a group of kids around Carol Leeís car outside 1019 East Grove and, as soon as they saw him coming, they began to run away. The group of kids were believed to be 13-14 years old, Peter told authorities.

Caledonia Police have named suspects in the case.

HCSO handles car accidents

The Houston County Sheriffís Office received a report of a hit-and-run accident in front of the Roble Funeral Home on Main Street in Spring Grove on March 21. The driver, a Spring Grove man, was tracked down and issued a citation for inattentive driving. No further information was available.

A one-car rollover was reported to the Sheriffís Office on March 20. The accident occurred at the junction of CSAH 4 and Newhouse Drive just south of Spring Grove. The driver, Connie McCallson of West Salem, WI, was not reported to have sustained any injuries.
