Eleanor Garness
Eleanor Garness, 69, of Minot, ND, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at a hospital in Minot. She was born August 12, 1933, on a farm southeast of Butte, ND, to Fred and Anna (Panusuk) Lakoduk. Eleanor attended school in Butte, Bismarck and Riverdale, ND.
She was once married to Milford Garness of Caledonia. The couple lived in North Dakota where Milford worked on the Garrison Dam Project. They moved to Massena, NY, where he then worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and then moved to Caledonia where their son Michael was born.
Eleanor was employed as an accountant for Peter Kiewit Construction and later worked at Minot Dental Labs, both in Minot.
Survivors include a brother, Fred Lakoduk of Little Hocking, OH; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her mother, Ann Maier; and a sister, Gladys Sterna.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Rev. Tony Fink will officiate. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia is in charge of local arrangements.
