Board verifies distribution of referendum money Prior to the December operating levy referendum, school board members indicated that, should voters approve the operating levy, several itemsñ such as technology updates and staff developmentñ would receive funding as a result. At a meeting on March 3, the board verified by an unanimous vote that funds generated by the operating levy referendum will indeed be allotted to those particular items. Board member Chuck Schulte commented, ìBasically weíre honoring to the taxpayers what we told them weíd do.î The boardís decision on March 3 means that for the first year of the levy, the 2003-04 school year, $153,000 will be allotted to additional faculty positions, $95,000 to curriculum support for items like textbooks and software, $75,000 to technology updates, $55,000 to the reinstatement of staff development funding, $40,000 to an additional custodian, and $100,000 to the districtís fund balance. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
