Louise Tweeten

E. Louise Tweeten, 83, of Spring Grove, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at her home. She was born October 11, 1919, in Wabasha, MN, to Theodore and Emma (Koelmel) Tweeten. She was a 1936 Wabasha High school graduate, she was also a graduate of Winona State Teachers College. She taught Elementary School in Remer, MN, North Branch, MN and Spring Grove. On August 4, 1945, she married Harlan S. Tweeten, in Wabasha. They farmed in rural Spring Grove for many years before retiring and moving into Spring Grove. Harlan preceded Louise in death on November 4, 1998.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and its womenís groups. She was a founding organizer of the first Girl Scout Troop in Spring Grove, helped establish the original Spring Grove Library, was actively involved with the Caledonia Rockets 4-H Club, the Wilmington Switch Homemakers Club and the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Kay) Tweeten, Prior Lake, and Harlan ëLonnieí (Jean Ann) Tweeten, Spring Grove; six grandchildren; one sister, Olivia Kennedy, Wabasha, and one very dear friend, Doris Kjome of Spring Grove.

In addition to her husband Harlan, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Art and Ernie; and two sisters, Edna and Margarite.

Services will be held Sunday, May 25, 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with burial in the Trinity Church Cemetery. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate. Friends may call Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be given to the family towards a scholarship fund that will be established in memory of Harlan and Louise Tweeten.
