Posted: 11/12/03 Melbourne StorlieMelbourne Curtis Storlie, 73, of rural Mabel, died Monday, November 10, 2003, at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. He was born May 27, 1930, in Spring Grove to Kenneth and Blanche (Aasum) Storlie. He was a lifelong Spring Grove and Mabel area resident. He attended Spring Grove Public School and two years of Agricultural School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. After being discharged from the army, he started farming with his brother Charles, he continued to farm after Charles death in 1972. On May 11, 1957, he married Kathleen Skifton at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. He had been a lifelong Trinity Lutheran Church of Spring Grove member, serving on various church boards, he was also a member of the Mabel American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Mabel; three daughters, Vicky (Tom) Fitzpatrick of Caledonia, Julie (Brian) Johnson of Mabel, and Melanie (Jeff) Kath of Preston; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly (Dave) Thompson of Minisee, CA, and Janice (Gerald) Tjepkes of Racine; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Charles. Services will be Thursday, November 13 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Military rites provided by American Legion Post 299 of Mabel. Burial will be in the Trinity Church Cemetery. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate.
