Orvin Sorum

Orvin B. Sorum, 82, of Houston died Wednesday, November 12, 2003, in rural Houston following an automobile accident. Orvin was born on March 25, 1921, in Looney Valley (rural Houston), MN, to Oscar and Anna (Olson) Sorum. Orvin graduated from Houston High School
and then entered the Army Air Corp. during WWII.

He was a member of the Looney Valley Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school and was in the church choir. Orvin was also a member of the Houston American Legion. Orvin worked for the Houston ñ Money Creek Creamery, Security State Bank in Houston, and Tri- County Electric in Rushford. Following his retirement, Orvin was a volunteer at FranciscanñSkemp Health Care in La Crosse, WI. Orvin enjoyed genealogy studies which included a trip to Norway.

Orvin is survived by his sister, Ruby Mark of Houston; two nephews, Ray (Anne) Mark of Houston and Kenneth (Rose Ann) Mark of Waukon, IA; and by several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry and Ingvald, and one sister Gladys Flatten.

Services will be at 2 pm on Saturday, November 15, at the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston, with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery with military honors by the Arnet Sheldon American Legion Post of Houston. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, at Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
