Mabel girl airlifted to hospital after car crashes near Spring GrovePosted: 11/18/03 By Shannon McKinney Carly Hennings, 15, of Mabel was airlifted to St. Francis Medical Center by Med-Link when the vehicle she was driving in crashed into an embankment. The Jaws of Life were used to extract her from the vehicle. The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 11 at 3:59 pm on Cty. Hwy. 27 one fourth mile outside of Spring Grove. Owner and passenger of the vehicle, Travis Lorch, 19, of Decorah, IA had minor injuries. According to the Houston County Sheriffís office, Hennings sustained neck and back injuries. Car vs. deer accident s increase Eight individuals reported hitting deer in Houston County last week. Two accidents were reported on Sunday, November 16, on State Hwy. 76. Those involved include Tamitha Buxengard, 21, of Spring Grove and Gerald F. Bakewell, 38, of New Albin. An accident involving Kristin Dittman of La Crescent occurred on Saturday, November 15 on State Hwy. 16. Two accidents were reported on Friday, November 14 on Muhlee Coulee Rd. and Stinson Road involving Trevor Voigt, 26, of Mantorville, Mn. and Christopher Woodard, 25, of Houston. Clayton Weis of La Crosse was involved in an accident on State Hwy. 44 outside of Hokah on Tuesday, November 11. Two accidents were reported on Monday, November 10 on State Hwy. 16 a few miles south of La Crescent and on State Hwy. 16 outside of Houston. The first involved Judith Nieman of La Crescent and the second involved Kay Lynn Wood-Norton, 35, of Rushford. No injury accident Brandon P. Tuck, 18, of Caledonia received no injuries when the vehicle he was driving rolled over on Co. Hwy. 249 between South Fork Dr. and Pohlman Rd. on Wednesday, November 12 at 4:28 am. Vandalism On Monday, November 17, a business in La Crescent reported damage done to its office. The amount of damage was unknown. A resident on Stadtler Drive reported juveniles shooting pellets at the windmill and buildings on his property on Saturday, November 16 . Four vandalism complaints were reported on Thursday, November 13. A resident on Skunk Hollow Rd. reported damage done to two mailboxes on November 13 or 14. A Spring Grove resident reported that their vehicle was egged on Halloween night, October 31. A Hokah resident living on Union Road reported that someone had taken a bulldozer onto his property alongside the fence line and into the woods, causing damage to the property. A resident on Redding Road reported that someone had thrown nails onto his driveway. Thefts/missing items reported A Hokah resident reported witnessing two juvenile males trying to go through a car when it was parked on sixth Street in Hokah on Friday, November 14 at 3:44 p.m. Nothing was reported missing. On Saturday, November 8, a person reported that while their vehicle was parked on Camp Winnebago Road, gas was siphoned from it. A La Crescent man reported that on Thursday, November 13, he accidentally placed his 12 gauge Bennely Nova gun on the front bumper of his vehicle and then lost it while on State Hwy. 26. The individual suspected that someone in a red pick-up may have picked it up. On Wednesday, November 12, a Houston resident reported missing firearms from his resident on Scenic View Road. A Houston resident reported that sometime between November 7 and 10, someone stole his black generator valued at $1,500. On Wednesday, November 12, a Caledonia resident reported missing a Matco air impact wrench with gray cover valued at $260 and also a Firestone Firehawk truck tire on a six bolt Chevy steel rim valued at $50. It is unsure if they were stolen or lost. Littering reported On Thursday, November 13, an individual reported witnessing someone throwing chairs and other items into the ditch near Kruckowís quarry on Co.
