How to Cook a Turkey-- kindergarten style

Editorís note: The Argus asked local kindergarten school teachers to have their students tell them how to cook a turkey. Their answers are printed here. (Warning: try these recipes at your own risk!) -- David Heiller

St. Maryís Elementary School

ìCook it in the fireplace. Cut it up with a knife with my dad.î -- Ashley Gavin, daughter of Dennis & Marian

ìI would buy a turkey at the store. Boil it for 10 minutes, then fry it and eat it.î -- Mitchell Schmitz, son of Rob and Ann.

ìI would peel the turkey to take off the feathers. Put it in the oven for 10 minutes.î -- Mariah Schmitz, daughter of Rob and Ann.

ìI would get a turkey at the store. Pick the feathers out. Clean it off and cook it at 350 for 3 minutes.î -- Olivia Schmitz, daughter of Rob and Ann.

ìPut a blanket around it and put it in a big black thing and cook it.î -- Brennan Schulte, son of John and Patty.

ìPut it on a pan. Put it in the oven.î -- Josie Wagner, daughter of Curt and Maureen.

ìGo in the woods and get a turkey. Cook it 6 hours.î -- Madelyn Strub, daughter of Matt and Terri.

ìPut it in the oven 3 minutes. Eat it.î -- Joseph Schieber, son of Jim and Patty.

ìGet a pan, put turkey in it. Fry it 8 minutes.î -- Katelyn Schulte, daughter of Mark and Linda.

ìShoot a turkey and then you cut it up. Then you bake it in the oven for half an hour. Then you eat it.î -- Sam Stemper, son of Matt and Amy.

ìPut it in the oven. Cook it for 2 hours at 2 degrees. Take it out and eat it.î -- Jacob Winjum, son of Jeff and Julie.

Cook turkey on a grill. Put water on it so it would steam.î -- Sophia Augedahl, daughter of Phil and Cindy.

ìCook the turkey on a grill with my dad. Cut it up with a not-sharp knife.î -- McKenzie Denstad, daughter of Toby and Kelly.

ìI would add sauce to the turkey. Cook it in the stove. Leave it set for 20 minutes. Put on counter. When it dries off, eat it.î -- Ben Goetting, son of Harvey and Greta.

ìI would cook my turkey on the stove. Add salt and pepper to it. Add milk and one cup flour. Eat it.î -- Nathan Roble, son of Scott and Jessica.

ìWe buy it. Then we cook it at Grandmaís at 70 degrees.î -- Jessica Sholes, daughter of Bill and Tracy

ìWe cut off the turkey feathers and fur; then we cook it in the oven.î -- Hannah Bolduan, daughter of Mike and Cindy.

ìWe go to the store and buy a turkey. Then we eat it.î -- Ethan DuCharme, son of Ron and Joanne.

ìMy daddy shoots it, then we cook it.î -- Marissa Kruse, daughter of Tim and Kathy.

ìWe shoot it. We clean it up and eat it. But first we put it in the oven.î -- Henry Russert, son of Bryan and Judy.

ìYou cut it. Then you bake it, cool it and eat it.î -- Danielle Eggen, daughter of Jon and Robin.

ìWe shoot it. Then we cut the meat out and eat it.î -- Brennan Mierau, son of Robert and Greta.

ìWe buy it at the store. Then we cook it in the oven at 200 degrees.î -- Erin Schultz, daughter of Pastor Tom and Nora.

ìYou follow a recipe. Then you cook it, eat it, and have a feast.î -- Gavin Schroeder, son of Jason and Melissa.

ìYou get it in town. Then you cook it and eat it.î -- Jacob Meyer, son of Lee and Laurie.

Caledonia Area Public Elementary School

ìPut it in the oven for 3 days at 2 degrees. Make a stuffing out of carrots, chicken and M & Mís.î -- Cody Heintz son of John and Lori

ìBake 5 minutes in a warm oven.î -- Kelly Schansberg, daughter of Paul and Carol.

ìCatch a turkey and cook him in the oven 10 minutes at 80 degrees. Leave his feathers on, it makes him taste better.î -- Cayla Schleich, daughter of Lynn Schleich, granddaughter of Alice Schleich.

ìPut salt on it. Then use rice to make stuffing like stuffed crabs. Put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 40 degrees, thatís a lot of degrees.î -- Caleb Lohenry, son of Todd and CJ.

ìFirst take the skin off. Put it on the grill for 10 minutes and then eat it.î -- Erin Rud, daughter of Jeff and Kathy.

ìShoot the turkey, then skin it. Cook it in the oven for 15 minutes at 18 degrees. Donít forget to stuff it with chicken.î -- Dalton Hagen, son of David Hagen and Julie Drtina.

ìCut open the turkey. Put it in the stove for 8 minutes at 10 degrees.î -- Brandon Doring, son of Dawn Ross and Chad Doring.

ìPut it in the oven for a long time, a really long time, at 50 degrees.î -- Colton Lampert, son of Mike and Dona.

ìPut it in the oven for 20 minutes in a really hot oven. Take it out and eat it.î -- Zachary Swerine, son of Brian and Lori.

ìCook it in the oven. Put salt on it. It needs to be in there a couple minutes at 4 degrees.î -- Levi Schulze, son of Leigh Schulze-Goetzinger and Scott Goetzinger.

ìPut it in the oven for 2 minutes at 80 degrees.î -- Chara Meyer, daughter of Paul and Cheryl.

ìMy grandpa goes hunting for turkeys. He puts them on the grill and puts sugar on them. He puts salt on it and pepper. They are on the grill for 8 seconds. I help him set the table and I have to carry the turkey over! So I make him do all the dishes. (This story continued through preparation all the way to the pumpkin pie!) -- Alexis King, daughter of Brad and Sue.

ìBake him for 5 seconds in the oven at a few degrees. Add salt and frosting.î -- Libby Stoltz, daughter of Nancy Loomis and Jim Stoltz.

ìFirst take the feathers off. Put it in the oven at 7 degrees for one hour. -- Nicole Kirchner, daughter of Alan and Betsy Kirchner.

ìSprinkle salt on it and put it on the grill. Cook it for 15 minutes. Turn it over one time.î -- Olivia Adamson, daughter of Jeff and Gayle Adamson.

ìPut it in the oven and wait til itís done. It takes 15 minutes in a 80 degree oven. I like to put butter on it.î -- Anthony Wood, son of D. Cherish Wood.

ìShoot a turkey and put it in a big pan. Put it in a hot oven, 5 or 6 degrees, for 6 minutes. Put butter on it.î -- Sierra Olinger, daughter of Brian and Julie.

ìShoot a turkey. Take off the feathers. Put it in a pan. Make stuffing and cook the turkey for 6 minutes in a really hot oven, 30 degrees.î -- Tristin Ott, son of Mike and Carrie.

ìCut it up and put it on the stove. Turn on the stove. Take the turkey off and put it on plates. Then start eating it.î -- Arin Smith, daughter of Karen Goetzinger and Joe Smith.

ìPut the turkey in the oven for 10 minutes and cook it.î -- Sela Schroeder, daughter of Kevin and Shar.

ìRoast it on the grill for 10 minutes. Itís then ready to eat.î -- Carrie Schoh, daughter of Jim and Kim.

ìPull the feathers off, chop his head off. Put in the oven and cook him for 50 minutes. Chop him into pieces and eat.î -- Collin Reinhart, son of Cory and Jessie.

ìOn Thursday, decorate the turkey with chicken and cook it for a long time. It is then ready.î -- Bryce Osborne, son of Robert and Karla.

ìI will cook it at the farm for 10 minutes. It is ready to eat.î -- Kirsten Olson, daughter of Dan and Helen.

ìChop off his head, pluck out his feathers, pick off other stuff and chop him up. Throw him in the pot and cook as long as you want. Tie the feathers together to make a decoration. Hang it up. Take turkey out of pot, put on plate, put the fancy thing on toothpicks and stick those in and then itís ready to eat.î -- Weston Ohl, son of Kelly Jean Ohl.

ìCut off his head. Cut him up. Chop off his legs. Roast it for 4 hours. Then eat it.î -- Symon Ely, son of Doug and Lisa.

ìChop his head off, take all the feathers off. Cut off his legs. Put him in a big bucket. Put water in it. Then put it in a cooking pan and cook it for 9 minutes. Then eat it.î -- Eli Craig, son of Dawn and Tim.

ìPut it in a pan and cook it for 105 minutes. When itís done you can eat it.î -- Cody Breeser, son of Becky and Jamie.

ìPut it in the oven and then itís done.î -- Jena Benson, daughter of David and Missy.

ìPut it in the oven. Cut it up and then you eat it.î -- Hunter Mashak, son of Gerald and Becky.

ìPut it in the oven. Cook for 1/2 hour. Then itís done. Then eat it.î -- Hannah Kirchner, daughter of Tim and Courtney.

ìKill the turkey first. Cook it in the oven for 10 minutes. Eat it!î -- Kendra Johnson, daughter of Kevin and Michelle.

ìPut it on the grill for 2 minutes. Cut it up. Eat it!î -- Brayden Hauser, son of Stacey Hauser and Cory Hauser.

ìPut it in the oven 5 minutes. Cut it up. Put it on a tray. Let it get cold a little bit. Then eat it.î -- Andrew Engen, son of Bob and Tammi.

ìCook it for dinner for five.î -- Sierra Bechtel, daughter of Joel and Tina.
