Omnibus hearings set for five men arrested in meth lab bustPosted: 10/14/03 By Shannon McKinney Omnibus hearings were requested last week for five men who were arrested for their involvement in a methamphetamine lab in a trailer house a few miles outside of Eitzen. Ronnie Lee Shefelbine, 21, of Caledonia is being represented by attorney Gregory Schultz. A request for Shefelbine to attend an in-patient chemical dependency program was denied by District Judge James Fabian. Levi John Jones, 19, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa was represented by Karin Sonneman, a public defender. Theodore J. Hawver, 20, Spring Grove was represented by James Schultz a public defender. A request from Schultz for Hawver to be released on his own recognizance was denied by Judge Fabian. Tod Spencer Weston, 39, Eitzen, was represented by Ross Phelps, a public defender. Thomas Alvin Monson, 22, of Spring Grove, is represented by Candace Rasmussen, a public defender. All five have been charged with three felony counts including first degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and liability of crimes of another; possession of methamphetamine; and tampering with anhydrous ammonia. Weston is additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. Shefelbine, Jones and Weston remain in the custody of the Houston County jail while Monson and Hawver are in the Fillmore County jail.
