Posted: 10/9/03 Raymond SchwartzhoffRaymond C. Schwartzhoff, 90, of Caledonia, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. He was born February 28, 1913 in Dorchester, Iowa to Theodore and Mary (Schulte) Schwartzhoff. Ray worked at Waldorf Paper Mill, St. Paul and entered to U.S. Navy and served on the USS Lapon Submarine. After serving his country he worked at Cenex in St. Paul. He retired and returned to Caledonia in 1976. He was a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia, the VFW Post 3833, and American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia. Raymond is survived by a brother Robert (Carol) Schwartzhoff, Caledonia; three sisters, Florence Bissen, Caledonia, Regina (George) Tony, Fridley, and Rita (Paul) Welshons, Hastings; sisters-in-law, Helen Schwartzhoff, La Crescent, and Betty Schwartzhoff, Caledonia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Ernster, Bernadette Peterson, Mildred Osbahr, and two brothers, Bert and Andrew Schwartzhoff. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Monday, October 13, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Donald J. Schmitz will officiate and burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 9 to 11 am at the church Monday. Memorials are preferred to Calvary Cemetery or St. Maryís Church Refurbishment Fund.
