Posted: 9/8/03 Hans TweetenHans Oliver Tweeten, 89, of Edina, MN and formerly of Spring Grove, MN died Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Fairview Hospital in Edina. He was born October 6, 1913 in Delavan, MN to Willie Martin and Oline (Wilhelmson) Tweeten. He graduated from Chicago Technical College and taught there for a few years. On August 8, 1937 he married Elsie Clare Stewart in Gary, IN. Hans was employed by the William Wrigley Jr. Company of Chicago, IL as a Master Mechanic. In 1948, with his brother-in-law, Tom Andrews, he purchased a hardware store in Algonquin, IL. In 1950 he bought a farm near Spring Grove where he farmed and sold Pioneer Seeds until his retirement in 1990, the couple then moved to Edina where they have resided for the past 13 years. Hans was a life member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge #20, a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Valley of Eau Claire, WI, a life member of the Lodge Council Chapter Valley of La Crosse, WI, a member of ZOR Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Madison, WI, a member of Aideen Chapter 86, Eastern Star of Caledonia, past president of the PTA, and a member of the Lions Club of Algonquin. Hans was also active in the Boy Scouts, 4-H, Student Loan, and National Corn Growers. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Edina. Hans is survived by his wife, Elsie of Edina; one daughter, Nancy Stolpestad; one son, Hans Tweeten, Jr; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Andrews and Ida Dolny and one brother, Richard Tweeten. Services will be held Friday, September 12 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. with a 7 pm Masonic Service at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
