James Edward Ramlo

James Edward Ramlo, 96, Spring Grove, MN, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. He was born to James and Johanna (Bjorgan) Ramlo, on October 3, 1907, in Hesper, IA. He was baptized at Lutheran Church in Hesper on October 20, 1907, by Rev. Rassmusen and confirmed in 1921 by Rev. Havenros.

In his early working career, he spent several years in Canada, working for his brother-in-law, Oscar Goldberg on wheat farms. After returning to Iowa, he worked for area farmers, and also Ingvoldís Lumber Co., in Decorah, IA.

He was united in marriage to Frances Lien on December 23, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, where they have been members for many years. They made their home in Spring Grove and there he worked at the Hillmanís Cheese Factory, operated Jimís Cafe, worked for the City of Spring Grove and also for the late Henry Olerud for 20 years. James was a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife Frances of Spring Grove; two sisters, Myrtle Carpenter and Clara Brenno; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Clara Goldberg, Tilla Brenno, twin sisters in infancy and a brother, John.

Services will be Thursday, April 29, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
