Tod Spencer Weston, 40, pled guilty on July 30 to one felony count of manufacturing a controlled substance.
The crime was related to a methamphetamine bust in rural Eitzen last fall.
A plea agreement was worked out by Westonís attorney, Ross Phelps of La Crescent, and Houston County Attorney Rick Jackson. It calls for the guideline sentence of 83 months to be cut in half to 43 months, and restitution for clean-up to be capped at $1,000.
Three other counts were dropped, including possession of a controlled substance in the first degree; tampering with anhydrous ammonia; and possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree.
Sentencing is set for September 13 at 2 p.m. before Judge James Fabian of the Third District Court. Weston has been in jail since the offense.
Weston was one of five men arrested for their involvement in a methamphetamine lab in a trailer house a few miles outside of Eitzen on September 1, 2003.
The four other men charged in the case are Ronnie Lee Shefelbine, Caledonia; Levi John Jones, Harpers Ferry, Iowa; Theodore J. Hawver, Spring Grove; and Thomas Alvin Monson, of Spring Grove.
These four men are charged with three felony counts including first degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and liability of crimes of another; possession of methamphetamine; and tampering with anhydrous ammonia.
