Rhoda Carroll
Rhoda ìJaneî Carroll, 75, of New Albin, IA, died after a brief illness Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Jane was born in Toivola, MI on June 21, 1929 to Earl G. and Verla (VanGorder) Russell. She married Edmund Carroll on May 7, 1948 at St. Peterís United Church of Christ in New Albin.
Jane was employed at a local gas company for many years as a secretary before retiring in 1992. Jane loved writing poetry, reading, crocheting and visiting The Isle of Capri. Grandma Jane touched many lives with her joy and laughter and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by five children: Debra Burroughs, New Albin, IA, Scott Carroll (special friend Margaretta) Lansing, IA, Kimberlee Carroll (special friend Allen Halvorsen) La Crosse, WI, Krislyn Curry (special friend Kent Maust) New Albin, and Shane (Nancy) Carroll, New Albin; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four siblings: Helen (Harold) Lundgren, Centuria, WI, Donna (Robert) Middendorf, Solon, IA, Darrell (Rita) Russell, Maquoketa, IA, James ìButchî (Joan) Russell, Bettendorf, IA; a sister-in-law, Jen Russell, Guttenberg, IA; nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband Edmund on December 23, 1987, a son-in-law Michael Burroughs, a grandson Thomas Burroughs, two sisters Joyce and Marge, and one brother Bob.
Services will be Friday, August 13, 11 a.m., at the New Albin Community Center with Pastor Jim Olsen officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services at the Community Center. Burial will be in St. Peterís Memorial Cemetery in New Albin.
The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
