Clarence Bjorlo

Clarence W. Bjorlo, 89, of Houston, MN and formerly of Spring Grove, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. He was born on December 10, 1914 in McKenzie Co., North Dakota, to Andrew and Dina (Strand) Bjorlo. He was baptized and confirmed in Rossland Lutheran Church, south of Williston, ND. Clarence attended Williston High School. In 1934 he left drought-stricken North Dakota to join his parents and family who had earlier moved to Seattle, WA. In 1938 he met Rosalie Onstad. They were married in Seattle on July 20, 1940. Clarence and his wife and family moved to Spring Grove in 1943, where they farmed. In 1945 they moved into town where Clarence worked for Myhre Hardware.

Clarence purchased the Culligan business and later a furniture and floor covering store, retiring in 1980. He served two terms as mayor of Spring Grove. He also served on the Spring Grove School Board. In 1997 he and Rosalie moved to Heritage Court in Houston.

Clarence is survived by his wife Rosalie; five children: Gerald (JoAnne), Melrose, Joel (Marilyn), Winona, Andrea (Rolland) Ledebuhr, Minnesota City, Richard (Louann), Rushford, and Rondi Adams, Willmar; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Margaret Auld, Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday, August 25, 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastors Stephanie Frey and Zane Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Spring Grove. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
