Gordon P. Guenther
Services for Gordon P. Guenther, U.S. Air Force, retired, was held Monday, December 13, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Episcopal Church, Minden, LA with the Rev. Wayne E. Carter officiating. Interment followed at Hill Crest Cemetery, Haughton, LA, with full military honors. Visitation was held December 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Haughton.
Major Guenther was born July 11, 1934, in La Crosse and died Friday, December 10 at WK Pierremont Hospital, Shreveport, LA, after a lengthy illness.
He was the oldest child of Paul F. and Mary Frances Glissendorf Guenther of Hokah. He and his wife were residents of the Bossier City area since 1972.
After his Air Force career, he worked as a professional mechanical engineer in industry and was an instructor for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He was very active in his church and family life.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; his three daughters, Beth Hamm and husband Nathan of Shreveport, Lisa Moore and husband Tommy of Henderson, Texas, and Karen Arbuckle and husband Don of Alexandria, LA; his brothers, Tom Guenther and wife Nancy of Peyton, CO, and Jahn Guenther and wife Claudia of Cohasset, MN; his sister Gretchen Guenther Combs and husband Clay of Greenvill, Texas; his grandchildren, Matthew and Mary Cetherin Hamm, Janson and Madison Moore, and Kyla and Lyssa Arbuckle; a special aunt, Lois G. Davy of Brownsville; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
