Wesley A. Ward
Wesley A. Ward, 70, of Waterloo, IA, died at his home Thursday, December 16, 2004.
He was born March 12, 1934 in New Hampton, IA to Gerald and Lillian (Olson) Ward.
He married Joyce Drewelow April 10, 1955. They were later divorced. He then married Alice Schuft on May28, 1972 in Brownton, MN.
He graduated from New Hampton High School in 1952, and received his Associate Degree from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute in LaCrosse, WI.
He worked for Stetson Building Products and then at Menardís for 10 years before retiring in 1998. He also worked as a Northeast Iowa Baseball Umpire.
He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, York Rite, El Mecca Firehouse Gang, Past President of Caledonia Lions Club, Caledonia, American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include his wife Alice Ward, Waterloo; two son, Anthony Ward, Des Moines, IA, and Thomas Ward, Fredericksburg, IA; one daughter Julie Schmitz, Rochester; four grandchildren; one brother Donald (Barbara) Ward, Waterloo; one sister Betty Parker, Lakeland, FL; one sister-in-law Alice Ward, Olathe, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew Wayne Ward; and twin brother, Wayne Ward.
Services were held Monday, December 20 at 2 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Washburn with flag presentation by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Visitation was held Sunday December 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Locke Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.LockeFuneralHome. com. Mr. Ward donated his body to the University of Iowa for medical research.
