Doris Hanson-Niebeling
Doris Cresen Hanson-Niebeling, 98, formerly of Brownsville, died Monday, December 20, 2004 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born February 6, 1906 in La Crosse, WI, to William and Carrie (Harnish) Krause. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse. On June 28, 1924, she married Jerome Hanson and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1953.
Doris married Carl Niebeling on July 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death January 16, 1972.
Doris worked at the La Crosse Rubber Mills from 1945 until her retirement March 31, 1968. She lived in her home in Brownsville from 1945 until 2001 when she became a resident of the Caledonia Lutheran Home at the age of 95.
Doris was a loving mother and grandmother and was very active in her community and the Zion Evangelical Church in Brownsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Heisler of Davenport, IA, and Nancy Schroeder of Caledonia; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ferdinand ìBudî (Luella) Krause.
In addition to her first and second husbands, Doris was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Foellmi; sons-in-law, Armin Foellmi, Gerald Heisler, and Roger Schroeder; one great-great-granddaughter, Amber Deters; and four sisters: Elsie in infancy, Rose Asselin, Kathryn Tetzlaff, and Caroline Hutchenreuter.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 23, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Evangelical Church, Brownsville. Rev. Brian Cuda will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Evangelical Church of Brownsville.
