Public welcome to attend township meetingPosted: 2/24/04 A joint meeting for city, township, and county officials will be held on Monday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Elmerís Supper Club. Members of the general public are also welcome to attend. The meeting is the annual township officers meeting. Glenn Meiners of Caledonia, one of the organizers of the meeting, said that Houston County has eliminated the position of agricultural inspector, so there is not going to be a township weed meeting that is usually held in conjunction with the township officersí annual meeting. However, he expected county officials to attend the March 1 meeting. ìIt is still my belief that the county, cities and townships should still be meeting jointly to discuss any legislative issues and other concerns and to keep each local governmental unit abreast of what is taking place in their respective jurisdictions or offices,î Meiners wrote in a memo to township, city, and county officials. Gary Patterson of Chatfield, the new district director for the nine county township officer association that includes Houston County, will also be present, Meiners told the Argus on February 13. Patterson was elected in a meeting at the American Legion in Stewartville on February 12 that was attended by about 225 township officials from nine counties in southeastern Minnesota. Patterson replaces Don Peterson of Blooming Prairie, who died in November. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
