Bertha Mae Belongie

Bertha Mae Belongie, 92, of Houston, MN, died Saturday, January 31, 2004, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Bertha Mae Garvey was born on May 25, 1911, in Cuba City, WI, to George and Josephine (Haug) Garvey. She was raised in Cuba City. On July 30, 1938, she married Larry Belongie in. Mae and Larry Ýlived in La Crescent and moved to their farm in Houston in 1949.

She worked as a bookkeeper at her husbandís life insurance business. Maeís interests included golf, square dancing, and playing cards with her family. She was a member of the St. Maryís Catholic Church in Houston, and the CCW there.

Mae is survived by two sons: Robert (Mary) Belongie, Burnsville, and Ron (Sharon) Belongie, Houston; one daughter, Mary (Rob) Haney, Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Clint, two sisters, Bea Mael and Mary Garvey.

The Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 7, at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Houston with the Rev. William Kulas officiating. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery in La Crescent. Friends may call one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Saturday at the Church.
