Kathleen ìKatieî Burns

Kathleen ìKatieî Burns, 61, of La Crosse, WI, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, in Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, La Crosse. She was born in Derry, Northern Ireland on January 13, 1943, to Robert and Anne (McBride) Brown. She married Michael J. Burns on June 20, 1964, in Church of the Crucifixion Catholic Church in La Crescent.

Katie was a charter member of the Shamrock Club that started in 1972 and a member until the time of her death. Katie was also the ìIrish Roseî in 1980. She also owned and operated Katieís Day Care for 27 years.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, La Crosse; one daughter, Celine Burns, Hastings; two sons, Sean (Debbie) Burns, Brownsville, and Liam Burns, Genoa, WI; four grandchildren; three sisters, Celine Burns, of Derry, Northern Ireland, Betty (Arthur) Rushton, Liverpool, England, and Dolores Gooch, Whales; two brothers, Wilfred (Kitty) Brown and Danny Brown, both of Derry; one sister-in-law, Donnell Burns, Caledonia; one brother-in-law, Patrick (Colleen) Burns, La Crescent; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, January 19, in Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Joseph OíHara and Rev. David Kunz will concelebrate with burial to be held in Crucifixion Cemetery, La Crescent. Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. at the Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 West Ave. So., La Crosse with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. Friends and family may also call from 8 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Monday.
