Gladys Dale

Gladys Dale, 86, of Caledonia, MN, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at her home. She was born March 2, 1917 in Highland Township, Winneshiek County, IA, to Nicholai and Julia (Erickson) Thorson. Gladys attended country school and graduated from Mabel High School, Mabel, MN in 1934.

She then attended Winona Business College for two years. Gladys moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the government as a secretary. In 1952 she moved back home for a short time before moving to the Twin Cities where she again was employed as a secretary.

Gladys met Phillip Dale and on May 10, 1958 they were married at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They owned and operated Dale Insurance in St. Paul and lived in Golden Valley. In 1982 they moved to Caledonia and on February 18, 1986 Phillip preceded Gladys in death. Gladys was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia.

Survivors include one brother, Tilford Thorson of Mabel.

In addition to her husband, Gladys is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Nellie Olson and Ellen Howe.

Services will be Saturday, January 24, 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Rolf Storlie officiating. Burial will be in Hesper Lutheran Cemetery, Hesper, IA. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
