Virginia Monson

Virginia Agnes Monson, 89, of Spring Grove, died Monday, January 5, 2004 at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove.

She was born June 6, 1914 in Decorah, IA to Otto and Josephine (Schaub) Anderson. She attended Decorah High School. She married M. Alvin Monson on May 17, 1947, in Spring Grove, he preceded her in death on October 16, 1978.

She was a Decorah, Spring Grove area resident until 1994, after which time she lived with her daughter Janice for a few years. She became a resident of Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove on August 4, 1998.

She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, and a former member of the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, and Wilmington Lutheran Church, rural Spring Grove, and their womenís groups. She enjoyed crocheting as a hobby.

Survivors include two children, Mark (Carlene) of Spring Grove and Janice Haugen of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite ëBabeí Lepa of Decorah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Wilmington Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Wilmington Church Cemetery. Pastor Bryan Robertson of Decorah Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
