Hoedown is this weekend

The Houston Hoedown takes place this Friday through Sunday with events for all ages and interests.

The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall will be set up in Trailhead Park in Houston from July 20-26. It is a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.
In honor of that event, two World War II veterans were chosen to be Grand Marshals, Gladen Sanden and Elmo Wojahn.

An opening ceremony will be Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will include a military parade, an F-16 fly-over, and military displays at the site of The Moving Wall.

The queen coronation is Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the elementary school. Queen Candidates are: Melanie Cox, Beth Krage, Amanda Reinhart, Stacy Steinfeldt, Amanda Todd, Andrea Welke, Whitney Lehmann; 2004 Little Miss Candidates: Macey Feller, Amy Zwarycz, Breanna Hahn, Valerie Hibbs, Kelly Jerviss, Cortney Johnston, Brooke Johnston, Kyla Olson, Brianna Kerrigan, Abigail Loken, Elizabeth Loken, Kenzie Ness, Heather Lundberg, Katlin VanGundy, Eryn Olson-Englund, Anna Sweet, Lizzy Tippery, Jordyn Yocum.

The parade is on Sunday at noon. Other Hoedown events include the state horsepull championships, softball tourney, garden tractor pull, street dances, soap box derby, tractor pull, horseshoe tournament, antique car and tractor shows, mud bog, ATV sand drags, a flea market.
