Janet Thorson
Janet Thorson, 91, of Spring Grove, MN, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born June 12, 1913 in Winneshiek Co., IA to Nels and Maria (Gaare) Folkedahl. She was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident, attending rural schools. She married Martin Thorson in 1931, he died on February 16, 1994.
Janet worked for Argus/Mansfield Industries in Spring Grove and for 22 years at the Tweeten Nursing Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and its womens groups and a past member of the Sons of Norway group in Spring Grove. She also enjoyed playing cards with her neighbors.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Holly), Mankato; two daughters, Elaine (Dale) Doely, Onalaska, WI, and Norma (Rodney) Bentley, Spring Grove; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Thorson, Decorah, IA; two sisters-in-law, Cora Becker and Carol Gaustad.
In addition to her parents and her husband Martin, she was preceded in death by seven brothers (two in infancy) and one sister.
Services will be held Monday, July 5, 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastors Stephanie Frey and Zane Anderson will officiate. Friends may call at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
