Donald Van Minsel
Donald Alan Van Minsel, 41, of Spring Grove died Thursday, July 8, 2004 in a farm related accident. Donnie was born July 21, 1962 in Spring Grove to Leo and Elaine (Haugstad) Van Minsel. He was a lifelong resident of Spring Grove. Donnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove where he was baptized and confirmed.
Donnie graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1981. Donnie loved being outdoors and worked as a farm hand for most of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo and attending Nascar Races. Donnie never married or had children of his own, but all of his nieces and nephews were very special to him.
Donnie is survived by his parents; seven brothers and five sisters, Roger (Sue), Adams, MN; Karen (Jim) Hitchins, Lansing, IA; Lois (Adam) Guberud, Spring Grove; Sue (Bob) Heiller, Lakeville, MN; Brian (Michelle), Spring Grove; Robert (friend Bonnie King), La Crosse, WI; Deb (Tim) Brumm, Mabel; Jon (friend Sonia Wheeler), Spring Valley; Gary (Lia), Spring Grove; Scott (fiance Jacqui Johanningmeier), Spring Grove; Jody (Jared) Church, Winona; Jeremy (friend Nicole Auna), Golden Valley, MN; and 30 nieces and nephews.
Donnie was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Services will be held Monday, July 12 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
