Posted: 6/11/04 Marlys HegsethMarlys Hegseth, 83, of Spring Grove, MN, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Gundersen/Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, of complications following heart surgery. She was born May 13, 1921, in Decorah, IA to Peter and Marie (Horvey) Solem. She was baptized June 5, 1921. She was a lifelong Decorah, IA, Spring Grove area resident. She attended rural school in Winneshiek County. On December 15, 1937, she married Morris Gilford Hegseth, he preceded her in death in October of 1975. She owned and operated the Pine Grove Rest Home in Spring Grove until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and itís womenís groups. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Spring Grove. Marlys is survived by her two sons David (Louise), Kodak, TN, and Charles (Shirley), St. Lucas, IA; one daughter, Gwendolyn (John) Stefflar, Edgewood, IA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Solem, Cedar Rapids, IA; and one sister, Gilma Oyloe, Decorah, IA. In addition to her parents, and her husband Morris, she was preceded in death by her daughter Phyllis on May 30, 1981, two brothers Bryon and George Solem, and her grandson Dion Hegseth on October 28, 2001. Services will be Monday, June 14, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
