Stella Bjerke
Stella Jeanette Bjerke, 96, of Spring Grove, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove.
She was born May 25, 1908, in Highlandville to Henry and Nora (Vinge) Larson. She was the oldest of their children, but outlived all her siblings.
She attended Grindeland School in rural Highlandville.
On May 25, 1929, she married Theodore Bjerke at Highland Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Highlandville area.
She was a member of Highland Lutheran Church and its womenís groups.
She was a very good cook and a wonderful grandmother.
Stella is survived by three sons: Tilford (Shelby) of New Lisbon,WI; Lyle (Joyce) of Dorchester, IA; and Ronald (Carol) of Spring Grove; a daughter, Evelyn (Orvin) Halverson of Mabel, MN and a daughter-in-law, Judy Bjerke of Spring Grove.
She is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a nephew.
In addition to her parents and her husband Theodore, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold, one sister, three brothers and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Highlandville Lutheran Church in rural Spring Grove. Pastor David Andreae will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Church Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home and at the church an hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
