Margaret Harer

Margaret ìMaggieî Harer, 88, of Brownsville, MN, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, of cancer at the home of her son in Brownsville. She was born November 1, 1915, in Hokah to Joseph and Mary (Lorenz) Schnedecker. She graduated from St. Peterís High School in 1933. On September 5, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harold ìDutchî Harer in Brownsville. He died December 29, 1996 after 53 years of marriage.

She was a member of St. Patrickís Catholic Church, Brownsville and St. Annís Circle. Margaret was a charter member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary 6801 of Brownsville. For 18 years, she worked as a postal clerk at Brownsville Post Office. She loved dancing and traveling. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her flower garden.

Margaret is survived by a son, Joseph (Wendy, fiance and caregiver of Margaret during her illness), Brownsville; a daughter, Evelyn Meadows (partner Dave Adams), San Diego, CA; one brother, Paul (Helen) Schnedecker, Hokah; and two nephews and a niece.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Irma Bissen and a nephew, Paul Bissen.

Services will be Tuesday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrickís Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Paul Breza will officiate and burial will be in Veteranís Cemetery, Brownsville. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Monday, June 28 at Breza Hall at St. Patrickís Church, Brownsville, where a rosary will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrickís Church or Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.

McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
