Posted: 6/2/04 Carl ElsheimerCarl Henry Elsheimer, 85, of Coffeyville, KS, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Carl was born August 8, 1918 in Houston County, Minnesota, to Philip H. and Bertha E. (Neumann) Elsheimer. He attended the Crooked Creek Township School near his home. As a young man, he traveled across the United States on foot and by rail. Upon returning to Minnesota in 1940, he met his future wife, Gladys Neumann. They were married May 21, 1943 in Caledonia. In 1948 the couple came to rural Coffeyville in a hand built trailer home where he became employed by International Harvester Company. They later moved to town and he was employed in the real estate, farming and cattle businesses. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir and performing special music during church services. He performed missionary work in New Mexico. He later attended Tyro United Methodist Church and assisted in the maintaining of the church facility and its ministry. He was a former member of Keystone Lodge #102 in Coffeyville and wears the apron of a Master Mason. Carl is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son, David Elsheimer, Coffeyville; four daughters: Joan Darby, Coffeyville, Gail Norton, Tyro, KS, Karen Pyle, Tyro, Janet Cooke, Coffeyville; one brother, Walter of Minnesota; one sister, Bertha of Minnesota; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carlene; two brothers, Philip and August; and one sister, Louise. Services were held Tuesday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, under the direction of Ford-Wulf Bruns Funeral Home. ©The Argus E-Mail: editor.argus@ecm-inc.com |
