Posted: 6/7/04 Valery SchleichValery H. Schleich, 80, of Caledonia, MN, died Friday, June 4, 2004 at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. He was born November 13, 1923 in Caledonia to Nicholas and Luella (Mackey) Schleich. He served in the U.S Army during WWII in the Phillipines. On April 23, 1957 he married Mildred Heintz at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Valery was self- employed as a truck driver and then he and Mildred farmed for a number of years. They moved to Caledonia and Valery enjoyed his hobby farm in rural Caledonia where he raised donkeys and horses. He was s member of St. Maryís Catholic Church and Houston County VFW Post 3833. He is survived by his wife Mildred, Caledonia; two stepsons, Donald (Mary Lou) Heintz, La Crescent and Gerald (Margaret) Heintz, Caledonia; two brothers, Omar (Lorene) Schleich, Hokah, and Gerald (Joyce) Schleich, La Crescent; a sister-in-law, Alice Schleich, Caledonia; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, and two brothers, Duane and John ěJack.î Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 7, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father James McCauley will officiate and burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday morning at the church before the service.
